Worshiped as the God of medicine, the master of universal knowledge, physician of Gods and the guardian deity of hospitals, Lord Dhanvantari is regarded as the original exponent of Indian medical tradition called Ayurveda, the ‘eternal science of life.’ This tradition is now accepted as the oldest, most original and unbroken medical system of the world.
Ongoing research has been demonstrating how herbs and shrubs, mantras and japas, and vibrations of divine words tend to create an optimum environment for a healthy life. As per our ancient traditions, there are homas / yajnas specifically targeted to nourish a healthy environment for a healthy life. Such homas / yajnas are both preventive and curative in nature.
One such very effective homa / yajna is the Dhanvantari Yaagam. This yaagam is specifically meant for nurturing good health and protecting the human body against various ailments. The herbs used in the yaagam are ones that are known to develop immunity and good health. To add to this, the vibrations created by chanting of the Dhanvantari Mantra stimulates the entire human system, promoting optimal secretion of all hormones, optimal functioning of all organs and sub-systems, rectifying any aberrations, generating immunity, and nullifying effects of the environment on the individual.
This Science of Life originated in India over 5000 years ago, making it one of the world’s oldest health care systems.
Ayurveda is known as the ‘Mother of all healing systems’ as it pre-dates all other healing therapies and natural medicines. The Indian Government supports research and teaching in Ayurveda through many channels at both the national and state levels.
Worship is offered to Lord Dhanvantari seeking his blessings for sound health, for themselves and/or others, especially on Dhanteras Kartik Krishna Trayodashi or Dhanwantari Trayodashi. The Indian Government has declared that Dhanwantari Trayodashi every year would be celebrated as the “National Ayurveda Day”.
In the context of the above, to help promote a healthy society, Shree Ayurveda Group has been performing Saarvajanika Dhanvantari Yaagam on their premises over the last several years.
This yaagam is one of its kind and seeks to bestow good health which is the key to all material prosperity and spiritual progress.
As an entity that comes with knowledge handed down personally across seven generations, we at Shree Ayurveda group seek to share this carefully accumulated knowledge of 150 years with everyone for the benefit of one and all.
